The Seven Shades of Life....

These lines reflect the transitions so well. Any song that’s written on life, would have these elements to it. It is better to be aware about the changing colors of life than to lament over it when we lose it. Each phase moves too fast or takes its own time depending upon the kind of attachment we have with it. It is always better to have loved and lost, than never loved…. From Managalaapuram to Mangalapuram in a day ...

From Managalaapuram (Mangalore) to Mangalapuram (Trivandrum) in a day ... 16 hours to be exact between Kannur and Trivandrum.... Had the pleasure of driving from one end of Kerala to another in a day and found a few interesting things. Changing lanes - Kerala changes its look and feel in every 40 kilometers - Be it language, food, people and the shops ... the look and feel changes every 40 kilometers. From Mangalapuram in Trivandrum 40 kilometers would be Attingal... another 40 would be Kollam another 40 to Kayamkulam and then Allappuzha then Ernakulam ... Angamali ... Thrissur ... Guruvayoor ... Malappuram ... Kozhikode... through Mahe... Thalasseri to Kannur and beyond till we reach Mangaalapuram through Kasaragod. You would need new dictionary for every 45 kilometers too as the language also changes drastically. Roads are relics - Though you will see names of roads sometimes they don't exist - Like the historical records of certain rivers... some roads are just left ...

Patan Darbar Square ... where history stands still... (Part 7)

The beauty of the past always intrigues me and so did the Patan Darbar Square in Kathmandu. It is one of the three Darbar Squares in Nepal, that exists as UNESCO Heritage sites, where the past lives amidst the hustle and bustle of modern times.  Once a thriving palace of the "Malla" (the word Malla means wrestlers) kings who ruled over Nepal, the palaces and temple gives us a glimpse of the grandeur of their lifestyle. Though the earthquake of 2015 badly damaged this site, the restoration and renovations are underway to bring back the glory of the yester years.  Believed to be the oldest city, Patan welcomes you with a stone cut inscription which talks about the existence of this piece of land from 570 A.D. I was feeling as if I am walking among them when I walked the streets of Darbar Square.
